The Neo Geo AES+'s physical catalog keeps growing. During a press presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2026, Plaion Replai confirmed five more games coming to cartridge for the console, all pulled from the Data East catalog.

Five games (on four cartridges)

The list includes two fighting titles and three classic arcade games, with their Japanese and Western names:

• Fighter's History Dynamite
• Magical Drop 2
• Magical Drop 3
• Dunk Dream, known outside Japan as Street Hoop
• Miracle Adventure, known outside Japan as Spinmaster

Though that's five games, it's actually four cartridges: Magical Drop 2 and 3 ship together on a single 2-in-1 cartridge. According to the hardware team's comments to Japanese magazine Famitsu, powering on the cartridge brings up a selection screen to choose which of the two games to boot.

A catalog that no longer fits on one shelf

With these additions, the list of confirmed games keeps stacking up big names: Metal Slug, The King of Fighters 2002, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Shock Troopers, Pulstar, Twinkle Star Sprites and Samurai Shodown V Special were already confirmed. And there's more: Plaion also showed an unreleased Neo Geo version of Zero Wing, the 1989 Toaplan shoot 'em up that, despite its fame ("all your base"), never actually made it to SNK's machine.

Cartridges, not preloaded ROMs

Worth repeating every time there's a catalog announcement: the AES+ isn't an emulation box with a factory-installed game list. It's a modern recreation of the original hardware built to read physical cartridges — the new ones, and also the original MVS/AES carts any collector already has on a shelf. The four cartridges announced today will work just as well on a classic AES as on the new AES+.

To coincide with TGS, PLAION Japan uploaded a presentation video (in Japanese) to its channel covering the console's philosophy: compatibility with original controllers, sticks and memory cards, and the new wave of AES+ cartridges living alongside the classics. Our take

Data East never had the pedigree of Capcom or SNK in the arcade era, but Fighter's History Dynamite and the Magical Drop series have their own devoted fanbase, and Street Hoop and Spinmaster are exactly the kind of deep cut a relaunch catalog needs so it isn't always the same ten names. Date and price for these specific cartridges are still missing, but the console is sticking to its schedule: launch planned for September 16, 2027.
