SNK and Plaion confirm Neo Geo AES+: price, date and launch lineup

SNK and Plaion officially announce the Neo Geo AES+, a reissue of the legendary arcade hardware featuring a dedicated ASIC chip, original cartridge compatibility and HDMI output up to 1080p from €199.99.

The wait is over. SNK and Plaion have officially confirmed the Neo Geo AES+, the new version of the legendary console that defined an entire generation of arcade players. The announcement on April 16, 2026 reveals all the details: price, launch lineup and technical specifications.

Hardware faithful to the original, with 2026 technology

The Neo Geo AES+ does not use emulation. SNK has opted for a custom ASIC chip designed to replicate the exact behaviour of the original hardware at silicon level, guaranteeing fidelity impossible to achieve through software. The result is virtually zero input lag and full compatibility with original Neo Geo cartridges.

On the modern connectivity front, the console features HDMI output up to 1080p, CRT AV output, configurable DIP switches, permanent high-score saving and an on-screen BIOS.

Two editions, two prices

  • Standard Edition — €199.99: Neo Geo AES+ console and controller.
  • Anniversary Edition — €299.99: includes wireless arcade stick, Metal Slug cartridge and memory card.

Launch lineup: 10 titles

The console launches with ten games at €79.99 each, including Metal Slug, KOF 2002, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Samurai Shodown V Special and more.
