History

Alpha Mission II (released in Japan as ASO II: Last Guardian) is one of the console's earliest and most influential vertically scrolling shoot'em ups. Developed by SNK in 1991, it stands out for its innovative armor system: players can collect parts during stages to equip up to 11 different armor types, each with unique firing patterns and defensive skills. The gameplay demands strategy, as armor drains energy when active, forcing players to decide when to equip or unequip them.
