History

Last Resort is one of the console's most iconic and demanding horizontal shoot'em ups. Released in 1992 by SNK, it is set in a post-apocalyptic space colony drawing heavy visual inspiration from Akira and R-Type. Its key gameplay innovation is the robotic defense unit (pod): a floating metallic sphere that players can rotate around their ship to block enemy bullets, launch offensively, or lock in place. Featuring dark, beautifully designed industrial stages and relentless difficulty, the original AES cartridge is a rare and expensive collector's item highly sought after by tactical shmup fans.
